Guy Lakes - on their way to an exciting future
Linear announced in 2011 that they have new exciting plans for their popular Guy Lake’s Syndicate waters. These three lovely lakes situated in the Oxfordshire countryside have been run as a syndicate for over 16 years, are just metres apart and cover sixty acres of fishable water between them.
The three syndicate waters already held a good head of stunning carp, including several over 40lbs, when Linear started sowing the seeds for their new plans over four years ago. Since that time and up to 2010 over three hundred carp were introduced to boost the existing stock. These fish weighed from low doubles to fish of over 31lbs and included a high number of twenty pound specimens. In September 2011, in-line with Linear's new plan, another stocking programme began that saw 100 carp from 14lbs to over 30lbs released in the three lakes. This was soon followed by a further 150 fast growing fish in the winter of 2011/12. During 2012 Linear introduced 142 carp into Gaunts Lake – these most recent fish ranged from 9lb to over 35lb. Yeomans Lake received 43 carp of a similar size and up to 31lb. All the larger fish stocked into these two lakes came directly from Linear’s own stock waters where they have been raised and where they were specifically picked for their size and scale patterns. Stocking will not stop here and to maintain the fishing at the high standards they intend to achieve, Linear will in 2013 introduce a number of carp into Unity and continue, whenever necessary, to select carp for the three waters from their stock ponds.
The lakes, which have been described as amongst the most stunning in the country, cater for approximately 200 members who can fish all three waters on the same permit. Membership is rolling and is for one year from the date of joining. Prices will rise over the next two years to cover the growing costs of stocking, extra security and weed prevention. The price for a year’s membership in 2012/13 is £475 rising on April 1st 2013 to £540 and to £625 on April 1st 2014. Members, if they wish, can spread their payments over a twelve month period by direct debit transactions – details on application for membership.
Currently there is a waiting list but the wait to be invited can be very short. Applications to go on the waiting list can be made by using the form contained in this brochure or register online.
The Guy lakes syndicate
Situated alongside the beautiful River Windrush the three waters combine 60 acres of fishable water between them. The waters are set in superb, landscaped surroundings and there are two main car parks with fairly easy access to most swims. The lakes are very close together on this beautiful, mature site where the only vehicle access to the site is across a river bridge and is restricted by gates that are kept locked to all but the members. Toilets are also situated at strategic points around the complex.
The fishing on the lakes has improved in leaps and bounds over the years and two of the waters can boast carp to well over forty pounds with many thirties and a host of twenties. In the last few years, to add to the existing stock, Linear has introduced a further 700 carp to over thirty pounds and plan to introduce more over the next twelve months. This stocking is intended to make Guys one of the most prolific carp syndicate waters in the UK.
The tench fishing has also improved and could be amongst the best to be found; all the waters have produced fish over nine pounds with Unity providing the biggest so far at over twelve pounds.
The Guy Lakes consists of three lakes – Gaunts, Unity and Yeomans, all of which can be fished on a single syndicate permit.
THE PRICE FOR 2012 IS £475 AND COVERS ALL THREE LAKES FOR A FULL YEAR FROM THE DATE OF JOINING. ON APPLICATION: LINEAR WILL ACCEPT SPREAD PAYMENTS OVER 12 MONTHS TO COVER THIS FEE.
There are 10% reduction concessions for husband and wife/girlfriend and an adult with a son or daughter under 16 years of age.
Linear will accept members who are under 16 years of age but an adult member must accompany them when fishing. The lakes are for angling members only although members may apply for very limited guest tickets.
Currently the syndicate is full but places can become available at any time on a month to month basis. There is a waiting list for membership and anyone wishing to be placed on this list should write to the Fishery Manager or register online to receive an application form. For this current year, 2013, we do not anticipate a long waiting period.
