I'm sure anyone who is familiar with the site will be aware that phone signal strength isn't great in the area, especially down at Oxlease and Hunts.

Unfortunately this seems to be getting worse even though we have a phone mask only one mile away it is yet again affecting our phones and mobile credit card machines. Can we please advice anyone fishing down at Oxlease and Hunts that card payments may not work and we advise paying by cash. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

PRESS RELEASE

Linear Fisheries (Oxford) Ltd announce the retirement of their Head Bailiff, Roy Parsons, who after twenty years loyal service with the company has decided to retire at the end of April this year.
Roy a familiar figure at the fishery since 1995 has helped the fishery grow from its humble beginning with just four lakes to the very popular eleven lake carp fishery it is today.
Roy will be replaced by Ian Roper who has been a volunteer bailiff and in the last two years has been on the Linear team as a part time bailiff. In other ways Ian has been associated with the fishery for more than ten years.
Ian, who is a very knowledgeable all round angler, will take up his new post as Head Bailiff on April 20th.
Linear believe that Ian, with his angling knowledge and his past experience at the fishery, will make a very good leader of the Bailiff team. Ian will report to Chris Blunt, who has just been promoted to General Manager.

Chris, who has held the position of Fishery Officer for the last ten years, took up his new role on April 1st and is now in charge of all day to day fishery matters at the lakes.

Len Gurd, Director of Linear Fisheries Oxford, said. “Roy has been with us as a bailiff since 1986, first as a volunteer bailiff at the old Linear Fisheries Linford site and then joining us in 1995 at Oxford as a full time Head Bailiff. He has been a mainstay at Oxford and someone that we and the fishery could always trust and rely on. I know that after all these years working together, he will certainly be missed, not just by us but by all those that have got to know him over the years. He is one of angling’s characters, a legend in the world of carp angling – the like of which we may never see again.
We thought long and hard about a replacement for Roy and many names were considered. Although it is unlikely that there will ever be another like Roy, we believe that Ian Roper will bring something new and worthwhile to the fishery, both Chris Blunt and I look forward to having him work for us.
We wish both of them the very best – Roy in his retirement and Ian in his new role as Head Bailiff-and welcome Chris Blunt in his new role as General Manager, knowing that Chris will continue to do the excellent work that he’s done to date and add much, much more to keep the fishery at the top where it belongs”.

Linear Fisheries (Oxford) Ltd was founded in 1993 as a Joint Venture Company between family owned, Oxfordshire aggregates company Smith & Sons (Bletchington) Ltd and Len Gurd, Angling Professional.
