St Johns Pool

The only place to start this week is with the capture of the “Box Common” by Sparsholt student Jack Crook. Jack set a new PB and broke the St. Johns lake record when he landed the much sought after "Box Common" weighing in at a massive 47lb 08oz. Jack informed me that the successful bait was about 5kg of Active-8 boilies and particles he found dumped in his margin, in true student fashion he “rescued” all the bait and spodded it out to a spot, even air drying a few for hook baits. Oh Yeh, he even found the lead he was using on the floor – Top Angling!!!

Unity Lake

Kerry Walter had mirrors weighing 24lb and 28lb 07oz during a recent session.

And Guys bailiff, Ivor Peachey has had a few tench along with three doubles fishing over a heavily baited area.

PRESS RELEASE

Richworth [StreamSelect] and Linear Fisheries has amicably agreed to end their sponsorship association after more than ten years; both Linear and Richworth believed that the rewarding partnership they have both enjoyed had run its course and that with retirements being planned within the companies in the near future; the end of this year would be a good time to end their sponsorship agreement.
Linear has no plans to seek a new sponsor and Richworth has no plans to sponsor any other fishery.

Len Gurd, spokesman for Linear said ‘It has been a privilege to have the Richworth name alongside Linear's and although it is sad that the association was ending the staff and management of Linear had become very good friends with the family run bait company over the years and this friendship will always remain’.

We are always getting asked about when’s the best time to show up to the fishery. Its hard to say for definite but we always seems to have a shift change of anglers on Sundays, Wednesday and Fridays, with Sunday afternoons arguably being the best time to arrive.

Many anglers seem to think that all lakes are permanently full and you can never get a swim, this is far from the case. We can get exceptionally busy on weekends, especially on bank holidays but even then its very rare that we are completely full, in fact during the last two years we can only remember this happening once (the recent Easter Bank Holiday).

Below are the number of swims on each lake that were free last Saturday.

(Number of free swims last Saturday)
Brasenose-One (16 swims free)
Brasenose-Two (17 swims free)
St. Johns Pool (27 swims free)
Manor Farm Lake (14 swims free)
Oxlease Lake (17 swims free)
Hunts Corner Lake (3 swims free)

Manor Farm Lake

We’ve heard rumours that "Spike" has out at over 40lb but not as of yet had them confirmed.

One big girl that definitely has been out was caught by Ian Jeavons from Swindon when he set a new PB by landing "Mr. Ridiculous" weighing 44lb, Ian using CC Moore Equinox and Northern Specials.

Also on Manor was Peter Smith who landed three 20lb plus fish using CC Moore XXX and live system boilies.

Hardwick Lake & Smiths Pool

Lucas Coulter topped a three fish session with a stunning 25lb 12oz mirror, Lucas used a new bait he was testing called T-5.

And Axl Timmins from the West Mids had an impressive 37lb 10oz mirror using boilies from Perfection Baits.

St Johns Pool

Simon Badger from Allcocks Outdoor Centre had an 18-fish catch topped by four twenties, the biggest a stunning 27lb common.

And Mike Ashford had a few fish including a lovely 29lb fully scaled that we've taken the liberty of nicknaming the "Baby Plated".

Open Day

On Oxlease Lake Kevin Grout retained his crown as UK Carp Cup champion which was no mean feat, especially when he had to over come a slow start and in form Harry Charrington who got off to a flier.

Also doing well on Oxlease were Chris and Angie, Chris managed a 30lb 02oz mirror whilst Angie landed mirrors of 23lb 08oz and 21lb 08oz. As usual Sonbaits Code-Red pop-ups fished over Sonubaits boilies, pellets and particles did the trick.

Brasenose Two

Stephen Evenden landed three fish with the biggest two being a 20lb 05oz common a and 20lb 05oz mirror.

Brasenose One

James Farr landed nine fish in 48-hours using zig rig, six of the nine weighed over 20lb.

During the last week the fishery has received two deliveries of fish that we intend to on-grow in our stock ponds, and what a selection of fish they were. From Simmo at Heather Fisheries we received 300 4-6lb heavily scaled fish and from Priory Fisheries we received 200 of the same sized fish along with a batch of baby carp, I’m sure you’ll agree from the photos in our latest catches that they are cracking fish.
