**Water Levels** Updated 09/02/16.

The water levels around the site have risen a bit more over night but not as bad as it was looking yesterday. It all now depends on how much water from up-stream is still to come through. There are a few spot on the Brasenose Lakes where we feel it is now unsafe to fish, if a swim or area has red tape on it, then it's closed.

Now that the strong wind have eased, the river bank side of B-2 is hbank open.

The water levels on the Syndicate, particularly Yeomans Lake are rising but the syndicate is currently still open, we'll keep checking down there during the week.

As is stands the only lake closed is still just Hunts but that could change by tomorrow. The levels of the remaining lakes will be reviewed again, first thing tomorrow.

For anyone thinking of travelling down to the fishery this week, please bear the above in mind and give us a call before travelling to check on the latest. (07885 327708).

**Weather Report / Water Levels**

Unfortunately the water levels around the site have risen quite noticeably overnight and we are still getting battered by the latest storm front. We are going to start closing a few swim on B-1 that we feel are now unsafe to fish, if a swim or area has red tape on it, then it's closed.

We are also going to close the river bank side of B-2 (the far side). The gusts of wind ripping across there today aren't safe to fish in. The far side of B-1 doesn't seem as bad but if anyone does decide to fish facing the wind, please be careful and make sure that your bivvie is properly secured down.

The water levels on the Syndicate, particularly Yeomans Lake are rising fast. The syndicate is currently still open but we'll keep checking down there during the week.

As is stands the only lake closed is still just Hunts but that could change by tomorrow. The levels the remaining lakes will be reviewed again, first thing tomorrow.

**News Update**

There have been loads of fish caught over the last few days, including plenty of big girls, some of the photos you can see below and others are to follow.

There have been three forties out, one each from Manor, St. Johns and B-1. There have also been at least 15 thirties caught, spread between St. Johns, Manor, Oxlease and B-1.

To update on the opening on B-2 and Hunts: Hunts will definitely be another couple of weeks, we have do outlets from this lake so it only drops with the water table, which is still high. B-2 will be reviewed tomorrow morning and then we'll update you.

**News Update**

Plenty of fish starting to get caught in this wet, windy and mild weather. Oxlease and B-1 have been throwing the most fish up; In fact over the last 24-hours there have been a couple of thirties caught from B-1, a 35lb plus mirror from Oxlease and Spike has been out of Manor at 44lb plus, not to mention plenty of back up fish coming out, particularly from Ox and B-1. Not Many been fishing Hardwick/Smiths so no reports from there and reports from St. Johns are thin on the ground at the moment - But with this weather, they'll be feeding on all the waters.

**Lake Update**

St. Johns, Manor and Hardwick/Smiths are all open. Brasenose-One and Oxlease Lakes will both open back up tomorrow morning (Fri 29th). The only part of Brasenose-One that will remain closed is the trout bank end of the lake, swims 43-45 as this is still very wet and muddy.

Brasenose-Two and Hunts are taking longer to shift the water, so they will remain closed for at least another week.

**Lake Closure Update**

For those that weren't aware, we've had most of our lakes closed at one point or another over the last few weeks, either for high water levels or because they were frozen.

We now have Manor, St. Johns, Hardwick/Smiths and Guys back open and expect to have Oxlease and Brasenose-One back open towards the end of the coming week. Brasenose-Two and Hunts may take another week or two.

We'll let you know as soon as we have decided on a date for opening the other waters.

**Lake Closure Update**

The following waters will be back open tomorrow morning, Sat 23rd Jan.
Manor Farm
St. Johns
Hardwick/Smiths
And all three lakes on the Guys Syndicate

We should have Oxlease, Hunts and Brasenose-One back open for Friday the 29th, possibly a bit earlier. But Brasenose-Two will probably be the week after.

**Lake Closure Update**

All lakes are still currently closed due to either ice or high water levels.

Looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, there is every chance that the lakes will start to thaw on Friday afternoon, so with a bit of luck we'll have St. Johns, Manor and Hardwick/Smiths open for the weekend. But please make sure you phone us before hand or check this page before making a trip to the complex. (07885 327708).

Regarding the water levels from the recent flooding - Guys is still looking ready for a Monday/Tuesday open and we are hoping the rest will be ready for Friday the 29th of Jan. B-2 is looking like taking the longest to get back to normal levels, so it is possible it may stay closed when we open B-1. We'll keep you updated on this page.

**Waters Update**

We still have St. Johns, Manor and Hardwick/Smiths open. The water level on all the other lakes is dropping nicely. The only snag is that the lakes are now starting to freeze. By tomorrow it is possible that Manor and St. Johns could be frozen, we will update this in the morning but please call us before travelling on 07885 327708.

Even if we do freeze we have mild weather returning on Friday, so the shouldn't stay frozen for long.

Depending on the ice situation, the water level on Guys should be low enough to open for Monday the 25th and we hope to have all the other lakes open for Friday the 29th. We'll keep you all updated as things progress.

**Flooding Update**

All water has now stopped flowing into Hardwick/Smiths, not much change other than that.

St. Johns, Manor and Smiths are all still open. We don't expect Oxlease, Hunts or either of the Brasenose waters to open for at least three weeks.

Over on Guys, Yeomans and Gaunts are still very high, but there is a chance we may be able to open Unity Lake back up next week. Watch this space!

**Flooding Update**

Following more heavy rain overnight, the levels are still rising. Both Brasenose lakes along with Oxlease and Hunts remain closed but we are now going to close the Guys Syndicate. Gaunts is now unsafe to fish and Yeomans is rising fast, this will then spill into Unity.

If it goes the way of previous winter floods it will be at least three weeks, maybe a bit longer before they are back open.

St. Johns, Manor and Hardwick/Smiths are still unaffected due to their positioning in the valley. We'll keep you informed about these lakes as anything develops.

There are still about 30 swims shut around the complex due to high water levels. These levels are still creeping up, and looking at the forecast, we have heavy rain forecast for the early hours of tomorrow and heavy rain on Saturday.

These levels are still creeping up, and looking at the forecast, we have heavy rain forecast for the early hours tomorrow and heavy rain on Saturday. This could lead to further areas being closed and if it gets too bad we'll look at closing lakes: B-1, B-2, Oxlease and Guys would be the first to be closed if it kept rising. We'll obviously keep you informed.

Brasenose-One - 4, 5, 6, 11, 20-23 and 42-45
Brasenose-Two - 23-24
Oxlease Lake 7, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32 and 34

**High Water Levels**

The heavy rain that came down last week has led to high water levels around the site, particularly on both the Brasenose Lakes, Oxlease and Hunts. Manor, St. Johns and Hardwick/Smiths aren't that affected at the moment. Although it has been suggested that these high water levels are from the amount of bait that went in over Christmas, it's definitely down to the rain!!!

Due to this, we have closed the following swims, these are where we feel the levels are to high to fish that particular swim safely:

Brasenose-One - 4, 5, 6, 11, 20-23 and 42-45
Brasenose-Two - 23-24
Oxlease Lake 7, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30 and 32

Levels are still slowly rising but we believe the have nearly levelled. We will be reviewing the levels again in the morning.

For those visiting the site over the coming weeks, please ensure you bring waterproof boots. After all the rain all the banks and swims are either very wet, muddy or both.

**Swim Availability Update 2:30pm 29/12/15**

The complex is virtually full at the moment. Many of the swims that have been vacated today have already filled up. Can we recommend that if you are planning a trip, you leave it until tomorrow, from midday onwards or Thursday.

Please note- There is a large storm front moving across the UK tomorrow, with very high winds and rain forecast - This will make travelling to the venue and setting up quite treacherous, so please take care if you do decide to come tomorrow. We appreciate that you all have time off at the moment and want to go fishing but the complex isn't going anywhere and will still be here on Thursday or Friday, so please take care tomorrow. We will be posting the swim update, as normal this evening.

It is with a sad heart that today I have to report the passing of Peter Mohan. For those that didn't have the pleasure of knowing him, Peter was a very influential figure in those early days of carp fishing. He was a founder of the British Carp Study Group and the Carp Anglers Association, along with being the author of many books, including the brilliant carp book ‘Cypry the Carp’ and his most recent publication ‘A Life for Carp’.

A little known fact is that he also had an honorary position as Linear Fisheries President, a title which he loved! He will be greatly missed by all of us involved with the Oxfordshire Complex and Elstow, where he was more involved. I have to admit, that along with the sadness I have in writing this, I am also very conscious of my spelling and grammar. For many years, Peter was the main man behind proofreading our annual brochure and many a time he had me across the coals, for what he described as primary school like mistakes, and in his own words would ask, “did you actually go to school”. I’m sure he will be looking down now, red marker pen in hand!

The world of fishing, particularly Carp Fishing, is a lesser place today. Rest in peace Peter, you will be missed by many, especially those of us at Linear.

Chris Blunt
Linear General Manager.
