Hardwick Tench Fishing.

9lb 10oz.

8lb 09oz.

"This is just a quick story of how Bob Brookes got on tench fishing down at Hardwick/Smiths".

Fishing with my Son, his pal Jez & Ian MacMillan I decided to try a different approach to the usual 2 & 3 rod leger method. I set up float gear & fished lobworm with no free offerings on a clear patch I had seen fish travelling over. I started with a 6lb tench & shortly after caught a new PB at 8.09. This was eclipsed 15 minutes later by a fantastic tench of 9.10 which broke the Smiths/Hardwick record by 8oz. At this point I could no longer see the float so I wound in & hit the sack.

I woke at daybreak & cast out again, this time with sweetcorn as the worms were now all gone. I had a 22.01 mirror followed by bream of 8 & 11.07, another PB.

I packed up and went home a happy, pleased with both the catch & the method adopted.
